Cigarettes are now cheaper than food in Niger and the fact that they are easier to obtain exacerbates the situation. Already ravaged by extreme poverty, drought and malaria, Niger now has to struggle with a population quickly becoming addicted. The insidious campaign to establish strong sales began by flooding the market with cheap illegal imports, entrapping countless people in vicious cycle of addiction. Subsequently, tobacco was brought into legal circulation, prices were jacked up and the marketing was aggressive.

Market research indicated that obtaining a visa to the USA was high on the wish list of the youth of Niger. One company name their cigarettes 'VISA' to prey on this aspiration.

Advertising generally tries to sell us useless things disguised as what we want. You can see these tactics being used everywhere by the tobacco industry to convince people to pay for their own deaths. How did they get you? Merci Déhà for the download code. Lots of bands use these ingredients – pretty female vocals over doomy guitars always sounds good, but usually that's where the ideas run out.
